5 out of 5 "Thos Japanese knew how to build audio gear"
Just bought one a couple weeks ago. At first I was curious about this Technics New Class A technology and found it "cute". This unit has some scratches over the top cover, but otherwise is in very good cosmetic shape. The only thing I could notice is that it has one replaced fuse and it seems to be the only thing touched on the inside. Well, now about the sound quality. It is PRETTY DAMN GOOD with all musical genres I threw at it so far. If you can find one grab it. It won´t disappoint even when compared to brand new hifi audio gear.

5 out of 5 "Technics SU-X120"
Excelent amplifier.

Used it since 1994 and hope it lasts for many years to come. Very low noise distortion. Good performance. Love the crisp and punchy sound output. I use it in combination with Technics CS Speaker system, CD player, Tuner and Equalizer. These was included in the deal at purchase. A good tape deck was also in the bundle, not in use by me anymore. The whole system depends on the tuner (with IR reciever) in order for the remote control to work.

I have had no problems with this amp, except during the last year. The amp has a "digital" volume control, with a big knob and a display, showing current -dB. (Looks really cool and "studio-ish" by the way). This big wheel is not motorized. When adjusting volume from remote control, it stands still, while the display changes dB.

The problem now is that the volume level fails to keep up with the movement of the knob. Probably some wear and aging of the mechanism after 20+ years of continious use. I will try to rinse in there some day, because this might be due to corrosion or dust. I dont know if the volume control is an optical solution or how it works.
- Volume adjustment from the remote control still works perfect. So it isn't really an everyday issue.

This one is a keeper!
