A great machine, with superb clear top end, although released in the late 90's it ran in production until recently. The Dolby S made for a very quiet quiet background which is also fairly compatible with Dolby B playback. The play trim is useful if you are playing a recording that has curtailed top end, to bring back some sparkle, and the HX pro makes difficult massed orchestra recordings without compression effects, a truly great deck for top class recordings. Finally the bias adjustment helps cheaper tapes, with clarity on recordings.
