4 out of 5 "Dry heavy weights"
Reviewed these Tannoy Revolution R3 speakers together with Dynaudio Audience 122 speakers in a hifi store when new back in the day. I was impressed by these more than the Dynaudio's because of their neutrality an weight. The really low clean bass sounds perfectly integrated. Friend of mine bought the Dynaudio speakers, because they are a bit more present in de mids and highs and the bass is more punchy. I went and bought these a few years later second hand and they performed flawlessly for the last 15 years and more to come. In my use it plays well with Rotels RB-980bx 2x 120w power amp. Not so lively with Quad 606.

Built quality is Teutonic. Give these speakers a firm tap on the top plate and it will not resonate or sound hollow unlike almost all other speakers in this price range. Bunker quality testament to really heavy construction. Beautiful veneer. Simple clean look.

Cons: Big. Heavy (27kg x2). High's a bit soft maybe. Needs big bright amp to shine.
Pros: Clean deep bass, unobtrusive sound, natural, well integrated from low to high, go loud if pushed.

A steal for the money as they are offered cheaply on the second hand market.

Cheers
