Bought these trade when I worked in Hifi back in 1990. When they first came out, Hifi Choice and What Hifi both ran reviews of these and both were favourable with 'Choice' giving them a 'Recommended' award.

Over the years they have been partnered with increasingly expensive front ends and amplification and never missed a beat. They aren't the last word in deep bass, or the most detailed in terms of treble, but for a relatively inexpensive set of speakers they do provide a remarkable 'hear through' sound.

The boxes are wrapped in a decent veneer, while the drivers are modest plastic coned woofers and Tweeters. Together though, they produce a very musical speaker that keeps control of the bass, while having a sweet, and easy on the ear treble, something you don't get with MD tweeters. They are best placed moderately close to the wall, on 16 inch stands, but I wouldn't advise filling these as the bass then goes from 'well controlled' to 'overwhelming'.

Comparing them to more expensive speakers, they lack the detail and stereo image that these can provide, but it's almost comforting when you hook them back up and a somewhat rosy sound comes back.

Overall, a fine speaker, well worth the money, and showing no signs of age.
