4 out of 5 "Second second that"
Bought on a whim for 300 euros this year and the old review about "electrostatic tweeters". I have a pair of Quad ESL-988 and like the non-hifi treble.
Replaced the xover caps with better ones.
Lots of good bass down to about 30 Hz in my room and smooth treble, slightly boomy bass but tamed it with DSP. They're kind on the ears and non-fatiguing.

Bought these with a STR-D665. I still use them and the amp too!
Only issue I had with the setup was a spilt drink over the remote that finished that item off. Cannot remember price now but the replacement remote was shockingly expensive!

5 out of 5 "Sony APM-22ES speakers"
Bought them in 1984 influenced by Alvin Gold -hi-fi reviewer and "golden ear " in hifi choice mag.
He gave them a "best buy " commenting on the "near electrostatic" tweeters , I have had no reason to dispute that judgement as I am still using them , very much under appreciated .
Beware ! later models of the same ilk had cheaper (inferior ) tweeters .
