These are very nice sounding 2 way, 8 ohm speakers, rated at 125W. They feature great definition, decent bass response and have a nice cabinet. The veneer is high quality (real wood and thick). I can see why they had a $500 MSRP in the mid-1980s when new.
I like the poly-propylene woofer with the rubber surrounds that you never have to replace.
I have mine mounted on 36" tall speakers stands. They are about 3 feet away from the wall. They are in my computer room, which is small and they are to my back and side slightly five feet away. Positioning is supposed to be key to getting the most out of them, so experiment if you don't like them at first. However, I am not sure why anyone wouldn't like them!
No matter what volume I have them at, they sound good. The tones and vocals are always well defined and crisp like fresh lettuce! I play them on a 160W Sony receiver from the mid 70s (a STR-6800SD) at lower volumes. I mainly play vinyl on a Technics table with upgraded RCA cables. The cartridge model I use varies. This system can make lower end carts sound really good, as the receiver and speakers can compensate and the RCA cables help too.
I plan to keep these speakers around. I run 3 different systems at present, so I will always be able to find a place for these! Maybe I will get another of the floor standing pairs of Mission models.
