3 out of 5 "Gale Mini Monitors"
Cheap as chips little speakers from 2005. Picked them up to connect to a Fosi amp and dac for my humble desktop PC system. I have owned a number of active speakers as well as some highly rated passive speakers over the last 20 years. These little Gale aren't going to beat the Linn speakers I owned or the B&W speakers. But they beat the £200 active speakers easily. It is a relatively neutral sounding speaker which will reveal the quality of your source. Bass is its only weakness being a bit ploddy and thick. But highs are natural (slightly rolled off) and mids/vocals are textured and realistic. Soundstage is acceptable. I see these speakers as an alternative to other people considering active speakers in the 100-200 price range.
